Cookies In a Jar

Cookies In a Jar

This recipe makes cookie dough that you can store in a jar. It is super easy to make and works for almost any gift. You can also give it with another small gift. This can work for a birthday or just to give as a nice present to a neighbor. Another way is to make it for a time that you will be too busy to make cookies. It is also super easy to make. I hope you enjoy making this treat to give as a gift or save for later.

All you need is:
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon slat
½ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 ½ cups (9ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 mason jar
paper
fabric

Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Then pour it into the bottom of the mason jar. Pack down the flour mixture by shaking the jar side to side. Then add the brown sugar and pack it down. (you may need to use a spoon) Add the granulated sugar then fill the rest of the jar with chocolate chips.

The finished jar should look about like this. Be careful once you are finished to not tip the jar, or the sugar will mix with the chocolate chips.

Next, you will need to print out this recipe to attach to the jar. You want the recipe to be about 4x5.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

¾ teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
½ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 ½ cups (9ounces) milk chocolate chips
You Need:
1 ½ sticks softened butter or margarine
1 egg
¾ teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 F. Beat butter, eggs, and vanilla in large mixer bowl until blended. Add cookie; mix well, breaking up any clumps. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 – 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes.
*Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Then cut out the recipe and tape it onto a colored paper of your choice. You can also cute out a square of fabric to screw on with the lid.

There are a few different ways to personalize these jars. For this jar, I chose the colors red and black because it was for my Grandmother and those are her favorite colors. So for the back of the paper, I chose red. Then, I just taped the paper to the jar. I had a similar red plaid fabric. Then I used a black ribbon to tie a not in the front.

For this jar, I went for more of a spring look. I used a yellow paper and a white ribbon to tie the recipe around the jar. Then, I used a yellow polka dot fabric.

These jars are very easy to customize to fit the person you are giving them to. They even look cute on your counter while you are waiting to make your cookies.
