Pampering Yourself

Want a night to yourself to relax. Use these great tips from American Girl Magazine to help you enjoy your night at home. 

Facial:

To use pull your hair back with a headband or into a ponytail. Fill two bowls. one with warm water and the other with ice water. Wrap a towel around your neck and cute a cucumber. Press a warm washcloth against your face for about a minute then apply a gentle cleanser or scrub. Apply your face mask and leave it on for ten minutes. Lay down and put a cucumber slice on each eye, then a cold washcloth over the top. When time is up, rise you face off and apply a face lotion with your fingertips.     

  • The Mediterranean 
Use for soft and smooth skin. Combine 1/3 cup olive oil and one small mashed avocado.

  • Pretty Parfait
To help your skin not be so rough, mix 1/3 cup plain oatmeal, 1/3 cup warm water, 1 teaspoon honey, and 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt.

  • Jack-o-lantern
For healthier more radiant skin use 1/4 cup canned plain pumpkin puree and 1 tablespoon honey combined.

  • Peachy Apple
To soothe your skin combine 1/4 cup natural applesauce with 2 tablespoons wheat germ.  

  • Oatmeal honey
Mix 2 tablespoon honey with 1 tablespoon plain uncooked oatmeal.

Nails, Hands, and Feet: 

  • Sweet Soak
Pour 1/4 cup olive oil into a small bowl. Soak your fingers for one minute then pat dry, for moisturized fingers and cuticles.

  • Milk
Soak your nails in a bowl of 1 cup warm milk and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice for 5 minutes to have strong nails.

  • Sugar Foot Scrub
Mix 3 tablespoon sugar and 2 tablespoons baby oil to make a paste. Wet your skin and gently rub the scrub in a circular motion over your feet. Then rinse in warm water.  

Relaxing:


  • Take a warm bath
  •  Listen to calm music
  • Take deep breaths or meditate
  • Be around calming colors such as blue and green.
