Lovely Heart Shaped Valentine's Day Cookies

The perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day is heart-shaped cookies.These cookies are easy, simple, and cute. They are an amazing sugar cookie that will help you show your love this Valentine's Day. The recipe is from American Gilr Magazine.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup butter, softened  
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• red food coloring
• 1 can vanilla frosting (or some homemade frosting)

Instructions: 

1. In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter and sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda. 
2. Add a few drops of food coloring to the butter mixture, a little bit at a time. Keep mixing until the dough sticks together. 
3. Use clean hands to shape the cookie dough into a ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap, and refrigerate it for 30 minutes. 
4. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough on a floured cutting board. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  
5.  Bake the cookies in a preheated 350-degree oven for 5-7 minutes. Let cool completely. Once the cookies are cooled, use the frosting to make sandwich cookies. (You don't have to make sandwiches, you can just decorate or if you are lazy like me, you can leave them plain.)
